Moroccan Customs Outlines Vehicle Export Options for Expats Facing Emergencies

It may happen, in certain cases of health problems or some emergency, that the Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) cannot, by himself, re-export his vehicle, that is to say, drive it out of Morocco. The Moroccan customs has provided for this situation and specifies the modalities in its "Guide for Moroccans of the World".
"In case of incapacity or impediment to re-export his vehicle under the Temporary Admission (TA) regime, an authorization may be granted by the authorizing officer to allow the said vehicle to be driven abroad by a person who does not meet the conditions to benefit from the TA regime. The authorization is granted by the customs office closest to the place of residence of the person concerned in Morocco," writes Customs in its Guide.
Beware of those who wish to import another vehicle into Morocco, while their car is already in the country. This possibility is not offered by the customs administration, which requires the exit from the territory of the first vehicle, before the entry of the second one.
"Furthermore, in the event of the death of the beneficiary of the temporary admission regime, the customs services authorize the heirs or any person mandated by them to repatriate the vehicle abroad or clear it under the regulatory conditions," it is also read.
