Moroccan Customs Burn 14 Tons of Drugs in Massive Dakhla Seizure

The Customs services of Dakhla have proceeded on Tuesday to the incineration of a significant quantity of drugs and illicit and smuggled products. This is the harvest of 4 months of seizure of prohibited products whose market value is estimated at more than 153 million dirhams (MDH), which has been set on fire.
The destruction operation took place at the Al Argoub controlled landfill (Oued Eddahab province), in the presence of representatives of the local authorities as well as the various security services, under the supervision of the deputy prosecutor of the King near the court of first instance of Oued Eddahab, Charaf Saadi.
In total, nearly 14 tons of chira (cannabis resin), 10.41 T of flavored tobacco (maassel), 321,050 packs of cigarettes, 2.5 kg of cannabis (Kif) and 1.7 kg of ground tobacco, 1,320 bottles of veterinary drugs, 47 psychotropic tablets, 112 cosmetic products and 700 liters of gasoline were burned, according to the inter-regional customs directorate of the south.
These products were seized by customs and other security services since March, under the supervision of the representative of the public prosecutor’s office near the court of 1st instance of Oued Eddahab, explained Taoufik Mohamed Abdouh, the Customs Ordinator in Dakhla, adding that these seizures reflect the efforts of the competent services, as part of the fight against drug trafficking and smuggling.
