Moroccan Customs Agency Warns Against False Accusations on Social Media

Following serious accusations against its leaders and officials on social media, the Directorate General of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII) issues a warning.
"False rumors"! In a circular, the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII) addressed its employees in the various regional administrations, in a "threatening" tone. This circular, which quickly sparked a lively debate among the employees concerned, surprises more than one, reports Assabah.
"The Administration has heard of certain messages and accusations on social media, particularly on the WhatsApp application. The publications are spreading rumors and false accusations against ADII officials and managers," the note states.
According to the institution, these messages undermine its image and reputation, as several "moral damages" have been recorded.
Faced with this situation, the ADII General Directorate intends to take the necessary measures and is even considering referring the matter to the competent judicial authorities, in order to investigate the origins of these rumors, the note specifies. Also, disciplinary measures against the persons involved will be applied at the end of the investigation.
However, some ADII officials do not approve of their hierarchy’s method. Thus, they have asked their superiors to act like the DGSN, which first investigates the veracity of the facts before making a decision.
