Moroccan Crime Lord’s Lavish Wedding Leads to Dramatic Downfall

A large-scale police operation has put an end to the flight of one of the most wanted criminals in Morocco. The man, who was the subject of dozens of arrest warrants for extremely serious offenses, was apprehended on Tuesday, several weeks after an excessive wedding had drawn the authorities’ attention to him.
Nicknamed "Moussa Falcon", the man was arrested on Tuesday, September 30 in Salé by the Brigade for the Fight Against Criminal Gangs, based on intelligence from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). He was the subject of no less than 51 national search warrants issued by the police and gendarmerie.
The charges against him cover a wide range of criminal activities, including international trafficking in hard drugs, the constitution of an organized gang, human trafficking and settling of scores involving threats with firearms.
It was a lavish wedding, organized last August near Nador, that precipitated his downfall. Videos of the ceremony, widely circulated, showed ostentatious luxury and public gunfire. The scandal that followed triggered a judicial investigation and forced "Moussa" into hiding.
His arrest comes after a large-scale security campaign conducted in the Nador region since this event. These operations have already led to the dismantling of his network, with the arrest of at least 34 of his close associates and collaborators, as well as the seizure of several firearms. The investigation continues with the main person of interest.
