Moroccan Court Upholds Life Sentence for Man Who Killed 6 Family Members in Salé Massacre

The Rabat Court of Appeal has sentenced the main accused, an MRE, to life imprisonment for the "Rahma neighborhood massacre" in Salé, confirming the sentence handed down to him in the first instance.
This heinous crime that shook Morocco dates back to February 2021. The convicted man killed six members of his family, including his brother, his brother’s wife, and their children, then gathered the bodies in a room before setting fire to the house. Alerted, firefighters managed to control the fire, discovering inside the house the charred bodies of the victims bearing knife wounds.
After several months of investigation without conclusive results, the accused was finally arrested on May 25, 2021, in the city of Castellón, in southern Spain, where he was working for a gas distribution company. In July 2024, he was sentenced by the Salé Court of First Instance to life imprisonment and a fine of one million dirhams. His lawyers appealed.
The criminal chamber of the Rabat Court of Appeal has just sentenced him to the same penalties, confirming the judgment pronounced in the first instance.
