The events took place in the princely residence, located on Route des Zaers, in Rabat. A thief, employed in the residence, stole several very valuable items from a princess’s room, including jewelry and high-end phones. He was arrested, as well as his mother, 2 of his sisters, and 7 other involved persons.
The thief was sentenced to 6 years in prison. His mother and sisters each received 8 months in prison. The 5th and 6th defendants were sentenced to 2 years in prison, according to Rue20, which cites information from Assabah. As for the last 5, they received 3 months in prison.
Only the first defendant was charged with theft. The others were charged either with receiving stolen goods or with purchasing the stolen products, knowing full well the status of these items. It should also be noted that none of the stolen items were sold. Some jewelry was kept by the thief’s mother and two sisters without informing the police, according to the same source.
The media specifies that the princess did not constitute herself as a civil party and that at no time did a lawyer representing her appear during the hearings. The law enforcement authorities would have returned her some jewelry, an extremely expensive watch, as well as two iPhone Xs.
