Moroccan Court Sentences Man to Life for Teacher’s Murder Amid Sexual Assault Claims

The young man in his twenties admitted to the facts and was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Rabat Court of Appeal. He had slit his language teacher’s throat on the grounds that he had been sexually assaulted by him.
The young man - a sound engineer and owner of a production company in Rabat - appeared before the criminal chamber of the Rabat Court of Appeal for the brutal murder by throat-slitting of a man in his fifties. The Court found the accused guilty and upheld premeditation, before sentencing him to life imprisonment. At the hearing, the defendant admitted to the facts he was accused of.
This heinous crime was committed in the Salé district last year. At the stand, the accused confessed to slitting the victim’s throat "to take revenge for a sexual assault he allegedly suffered from the deceased," reported Al Akhbar. Faced with family problems at his home in Rabat, he had allegedly asked for help from the victim, with whom he had formed a close relationship. The English teacher was responsible for providing tutoring. However, the accused claimed to have discovered that he had been sexually assaulted by the victim, who had welcomed him into his home.
The young man had stated that he noticed traces of sperm on his underwear. The English teacher had allegedly administered a sleeping pill to him. Following this discovery, the accused decided to "take revenge" by slitting the teacher’s throat. While he thought that by recounting the details of his crime to investigators, the investigating judge, and the criminal chamber, he would benefit from the leniency of justice, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
