Moroccan Court Sentences Man to Life for Fatal Stabbing of Police Inspector

Prosecuted in custody for "premeditated murder", a 25-year-old individual was sentenced in the first instance by the criminal chamber near the court of appeal of Rabat for having assassinated a police inspector in Khemisset last summer. His accomplice was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
According to sources from the newspaper Al Akhbar, the facts date back to last year, when a police patrol was called to intervene in an area where three individuals were terrorizing and trying to rob passers-by under the threat of knives.
During the arrest, the main accused would have resisted the agents and would not have obeyed the orders of the police. He would then have seriously injured the police inspector by stabbing him in the head and chest. The policeman died ten days later at the military hospital in Rabat, despite the intensive care provided by the doctors.
Posthumously, the Director General of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), Abdellatif Hammouchi, promoted the deceased for the sacrifices, professionalism and bravery he showed during this intervention, specifies the same source.
