Moroccan Court Sentences Drug Gang Members for Kidnapping and Torture

The verdict was handed down on Wednesday, February 12th in the morning, in the case of two members of the "Ouled Boutefah" gang, prosecuted for the kidnapping of an individual and his physical assault.
Following a trial, the criminal chamber of the Tanger Court of Appeal sentenced the main defendant to 15 years in prison and his accomplice to a 10-year sentence.
The victim stated in his pleading that the accused had kidnapped him near his family home, before taking him, under threat of a saber, to a deserted place, where he had been assaulted and tortured, then thrown into a dumpster.
He added that, for refusing to cooperate with them in the hard drug trade, the two accused had kidnapped him and subjected him to physical violence, causing him permanent physical disability of the arm.
On December 25th last, the Tanger Court of Appeal had handed down sentences of 65 years in prison against 5 members of the same criminal network, for thefts and kidnappings.
