Moroccan Court Rules in Favor of Night Watchman in 20 Dirham Dispute

The Court of First Instance of Séfrou has rendered its verdict in a trial opposing a night watchman to a merchant over a 20 DH affair. It sentenced the defendant to pay the plaintiff 400 DH.
The facts date back to 2018 when the merchants of a shopping mall decided to pay the night watchman the sum of 20 DH for his services. One of them refrained from paying the night watchman for two years. To get reimbursed, the victim filed a complaint with a local court, which proposed an amicable settlement. The merchant opposed it, claiming he had not given his prior agreement.
At the court of first instance, the night watchman prevailed, thanks to the testimonies of two merchants who confirmed the agreement they had reached by mutual agreement with the night watchman. The defendant being unable to provide proof of having fulfilled his part of the contract with the watchman was ordered to pay the sum of 400 dirhams.
