Moroccan Consulate in Rotterdam Closed After COVID-19 Outbreak Among Staff

The Dutch health authorities proceeded, on Monday evening, to the closure of the offices of the Moroccan Consulate in Rotterdam, following the appearance of new cases of Coronavirus contamination.
According to information relayed by Hespress, an employee of the Consulate was confirmed positive for Covid-19 during the past week, without this immediately leading to the closure of the offices.
And it was on the initiative of the CGD, a service of the Dutch Ministry of Health, that all the staff were subjected to the screening test, before the decision to close fell like a guillotine. A total of 6 confirmed cases were recorded.
The Consul General, Omar El Khayari, declared in this regard that "In accordance with the provisions in force in the country, and in order to avoid promiscuity, the Consulate has recommended home confinement to the employees".
The closure decision taken by the health authorities on Friday did not prevent the Consul General from ensuring the processing of ongoing cases, in particular the urgent cases of Moroccans living abroad, added the Moroccan diplomat.
