Moroccan Coast Crackdown: Massive Demolition of Illegal Villas Signals End of Urban Anarchy

The era of anarchic urban planning seems to be over on the Skhirat-Témara coast. Long awaited, a vast program of demolition of villas and real estate complexes built entirely illegally is about to be launched by the authorities of the prefecture.
In the crosshairs: the constructions that disfigure the landscape and encroach on the public domain. With this operation, the State intends to put a stop to a situation that has been going on for years and to reassert its authority in terms of land use planning, after a period of increased surveillance, indicates the site Rue20.
The operation, placed under the direct supervision of the governor, will mobilize significant resources. Coordination between local authorities, police services and auxiliary forces has been put in place so that these demolitions take place in a controlled manner, with strict attention to the maintenance of public order.
Beyond the mere application of court decisions, these measures send a strong signal against impunity in urban planning, the same source specifies. The ultimate goal is to restore the primacy of development plans and to ensure sound and legal land management.
