Moroccan City Mohammedia Left Without Mayor After Court Overturns Election

A new crisis within the Mohammedia Council. The city is once again without a president, following a court decision.
Thus, the Administrative Court of Appeal of Rabat has annulled the election of Imane Sabir from the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) who was sitting at the head of the Municipal Council of Mohammedia.
The decision was handed down on October 16 and therefore cancels the judgment rendered in the first instance by the Administrative Court of Casablanca on March 11 last. This judgment had rejected the request to cancel the election of Imane Sabir, filed by Mohamed Atouani (RNI).
According to TelQuel, she had been elected on December 31, 2018 following the cancellation by the Administrative Court of Casablanca of the election of her predecessor, also a member of the PJD, Hassan Antra.
The site reports that the Mohammedia Municipal Council includes 35 elected representatives from the 18 municipalities of Greater Casablanca. Since 2015, it has been responsible for sanitation, waste management, urban planning and the thorny issue of transportation and management of buses in the economic capital.
