Moroccan City Bans Motorized Tricycles, Citing Safety Concerns

The governor of the prefecture of Nouaceur has decided to prohibit the use of motorized tricycles for the transport of people, waste and construction debris.
Faced with the increase in traffic accidents, the governor of the prefecture of Nouaceur, in a decision made public in February, has decided to prohibit the use of these vehicles for the transport of people, waste and various construction materials.
The official recalled that the use of tricycles for these purposes constitutes an infringement of public order and public safety, and represents a threat to the life and safety of citizens and road users.
The governor also decided to prohibit any modification of the original appearance or structure of motorized tricycles or vehicles, calling on the drivers of motorized tricycles to respect the limits indicated on the registration certificate (total weight, unladen weight).
Any offender of this last measure will see their tricycle impounded for a period of 15 days in the case of a first offense, and for one month in the event of a repeat offense.
