Moroccan Chamber Elections Marred by Widespread Irregularities, MPs Allege

Many irregularities were recorded during the elections of the professional chambers of commerce, industry, services, agriculture and maritime fisheries.
Falsification of voter cards, voting of the dead... Deputies from the RNI, UC, PJD, MP, PAM and Istiqlal parties claim to have noted many irregularities during the elections of the professional chambers of commerce, industry, services, agriculture and maritime fisheries, reports Assabah. For example, a merchant who has changed profession is still considered as such, and votes in the elections. The examples are legion and confirm the masquerade orchestrated during these elections.
"The Larache chamber has closed down, as it was unable to pay the rent of its premises and some presidents are unable to buy a plane ticket to attend an international congress and play the role of parallel diplomacy," said Mohamed Simou, leader of the MP during the meeting of the commission of productive sectors in the House of Representatives.
Moulay Hafid El Alamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy, corroborated the deputies’ findings. He describes this situation as political speculation and mentions the desires of some presidents to remain at the head of these chambers.
