Moroccan MP Calls for Ban on Israeli Military Ships in National Ports

Nabila Mounib, a deputy of the Unified Socialist Party (PSU), asked the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, to prohibit the stopover of Israeli military ships in Moroccan ports.
"Many observers around the world are following the ship Overseas Santorini carrying military fuel across the Mediterranean Sea, and plan its arrival in the Strait of Gibraltar around July 30, after its departure from the port of Corpus Christi in the state of Texas in the United States, loaded with kerosene used in the F-16 and F-35 aircraft belonging to the Zionist occupation army," Mounib said in her address to Akhannouch.
The MP also wished that Morocco, like Spain which has banned ships bound for Israel from calling at any of its ports, join the global "No Ports Supporting Terrorism" campaign. "We ask you that Morocco engage in this global campaign against the genocide in Gaza, by preventing these ships carrying fuel destined for the Zionist state from calling at Moroccan ports, especially after the great popular outrage expressed by the Moroccan people after the docking of the Zionist military ship Komemiut in the port of Tanger Med last month..." she affirmed.
Mounib added that the Moroccan people are "mobilized to counter any action likely to contribute directly or indirectly to the genocide of our brothers in Gaza," stressing that "respect for the sovereignty of our country and its reputation requires respect for international law which prohibits genocide, as it is now being perpetrated against the Palestinian people."
The PSU parliamentarian called on the Moroccan authorities to "respect the will of the Moroccan people and the sovereignty of our country as a state chairing the Jerusalem Committee and the Human Rights Committee at the United Nations, and which has never ceased to provide all kinds of support to the Palestinian people, who are going through the darkest periods in the history of their resistance to the oppressive occupation that kills children, women, journalists, teachers and researchers," inviting the government to "not yield to any pressure under the pretext of military agreements with the Zionist state."
