Sunday 6 October 2024, by Prince

The Moroccan caftan was celebrated at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit held from October 3 to 5 in Moscow, Russia.

The event brought together fashion experts and sewing enthusiasts from emerging countries. The outfits presented were selected by the Route de la Soie and Al Andalus Association, dedicated to Moroccan and Oriental fashion. The objective is "to highlight Moroccan culture and our know-how in the field of fashion. The Brics+ Fashion Summit is a platform to meet other organizations and exchange on collaboration opportunities," explained Wafaa Daoui, a member of this association created this year by Hind Joudar, to the MAP.

Wafaa Daoui highlighted the reputation of the Moroccan caftan in the world of Oriental fashion. "The Moroccan caftan is a unique piece. Beyond the outfit, there is a whole story and a storytelling," she affirmed, indicating that the Brics+ Fashion Summit was an opportunity to celebrate this traditional Moroccan garment and the creativity of Moroccan artisans. This event also allows for interaction and collaboration between the fashion designers who participate, she added.

The association member also announced the holding next February of the "Marrakech Fashion Week", which will bring together stylists from different countries. Committed to the promotion of Oriental fashion, the association has been organizing the Oriental Fashion Show (OFS) for several years, a unique event aimed at highlighting Oriental artistic creations. The association has collaborated on more than ten fashion shows around the world and also worked to promote 200 Moroccan designers, Wafaa Daoui recalled.

Launched in 2023, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit is, according to its organizers, a major event for the fashion industry of emerging countries. Delegations from more than 30 African countries, China, India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Malaysia, Latin America and Europe participated in this global event, which was filled with business meetings, an international exhibition dedicated to heritage, as well as master classes led by global experts from the fashion industry.
