Moroccan Buyers Rank Third in Spain’s Foreign Real Estate Market, Data Shows

Moroccans are among the foreigners who have acquired the most housing in Spain, according to data published on Wednesday by the General Council of Notaries.
British nationals top this ranking with 9.6% of total transactions (6,498), followed by Germans (8.1%) and Moroccans (7.3%). Other non-EU foreigners (12.8%) have also acquired housing in Spain, reports Huffpost.
Sales transactions carried out by foreigners, particularly Swedes (-41.3%) and Danes (-40.1%), fell year-on-year in the first half. On the other hand, those carried out by Russians, Ukrainians and Americans increased by 50.2%, 41.6% and 13.6% respectively compared to the first half of last year.
The lowest average prices per square meter were paid by Moroccans (689 euros), Romanians (1,086 euros) and Ecuadorians (1,335 euros), while the highest prices were paid by Swedes (3,036 euros), Danes (2,930 euros), Americans (2,921 euros), Swiss (2,812 euros), Germans (2,724 euros) and Norwegians (2,584 euros).
The prices of purchases made by Russians, Swedes and Ecuadorians increased by 15.2%, 11.9% and 11% respectively. Meanwhile, significant declines were noted in the prices paid by Norwegian (-4.3%), Dutch (-2.7%), Romanian (-1.1%), Moroccan (-0.6%) and Portuguese (-0.5%) nationals.
