Moroccan Business Students Struggle as Internships Continue Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

Despite the suspension of classes, decided by the Moroccan authorities, students at the National School of Commerce and Management (ENCG) were surprised by the decision to maintain the deadlines for submitting internship reports.
Several students say they do not understand how such a decision was made, while the country is going through such a serious health crisis. Many are expressing "their inability to do internships and submit their report within the deadline set by the administration." After the decision of the Ministry of National Education, "most students have returned home to other cities to comply with the safety instructions," reports Hespress.
Even worse, due to the preventive measures taken by the government, most of the companies that were supposed to host the interns during this period have canceled or postponed the internships due to the epidemic. "Some companies are currently teleworking and cannot supervise the interns remotely."
They indicate that they do not know if the school had the right to force the students to go do their internships when the Ministry of National Education has given instructions to end classes in order to avoid the spread of the epidemic. "It’s as if they are defying the rules" by maintaining the deadlines for submitting internship reports and end-of-study projects by May 29.
