Moroccan Business Leaders Propose 500-Point Economic Recovery Plan Amid Pandemic

Moroccan companies have a recovery plan to deal with the many consequences of the covid-19 pandemic. It was developed by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
"The recovery plan for Moroccan companies is an ambitious, integrated, coherent and balanced plan between the State, the private sector and the citizen," said the president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM). In total, 25 federations worked for three weeks to develop the recovery plan. The document places particular emphasis on accelerating public procurement and strengthening the made in Morocco demand. It is a plan of 500 measures to relaunch the companies of the kingdom.
The objective of this plan is to preserve the production tool and prevent a deep crisis in the business sector in Morocco. Through this plan, the CGEM proposes to the government the integration of the informal sector, financial inclusion, mitigation of payment delays and simplification of relations between the State and the company. The CGEM recovery plan is estimated at 100 billion DH over a 12-month period and will be implemented from July 2020. A detail of the actions to be taken and the measures to be taken to revive the sector is planned in the recovery plan. The plan has been transmitted to the government for action to be taken as part of the preparation of the draft amending finance law, the same newspaper reports.
In presenting the plan, the president of the CGEM, Chakib Alj, noted that Morocco’s management of the health crisis has enhanced the country’s image beyond its borders. He did not fail to salute the resilience of Moroccan companies in the face of the crisis, which has fostered a relationship of trust between the public administration and companies.
