Moroccan Blind Graduates Petition King for Job Opportunities

Sunday 14 April 2019, by Amine

Unemployed blind and visually impaired graduates officially asked King Mohammed VI, in a letter sent on Thursday, to intervene in their claim file.

The National Coordination of Unemployed Blind and Visually Impaired Graduates would have sent a letter to King Mohammed VI on Thursday to ask him to intervene on their behalf in order to find a solution to their situation. Their integration into the world of work is their main demand.

In this letter, it can be read that "the closed door" in front of their file, as well as "the lack of communication" and "real will" on the part of the Moroccan government to solve this file, the graduate-unemployed have not found other alternatives than to turn to the king. Their file would not have "been taken into consideration" by the officials, reports the site Alyaoum24.

The Coordination, it is said, "has written to all ministries and public institutions to find concrete solutions to ensure sources of income with full dignity for several families". Without success...

Alyaoum24 specifies that this letter was made public shortly after a sit-in organized in front of the wilaya of Marrakech and which did not have a happy ending. The protesters were, according to the same source, violently dispersed and would have many injured.

It should be noted that the Coordination is also taking drastic measures to assert its demands. Very recently, its members have occupied the premises of the El Hakkaoui department, and more precisely the annex of the Ministry of Family, Solidarity, Equality and Social Development, armed with cans of gasoline, rope and gas cylinders. They would even have poured gasoline on officials, several of whom lost consciousness.
