Moroccan Billionaire Miller Arrested in Tainted Flour Scandal

Elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) arrested a wealthy miller in the case of adulterated flour. The Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money (AMAP) calls on investigators to continue their investigations. Other heads will fall.

The Moroccan Association for the Protection of Public Money (AMAP) returns to the case of adulterated flour. It is convinced that the billionaire, owner of several mills, also former president of the agricultural cooperative of Oued Zem, who was arrested and accused of having used prohibited chemicals in subsidized flour, did not act alone. According to the association, he would have accomplices, including officials and elected officials who were involved in this scandal, reports Al Massae.

AMAP reveals that the BNPJ would have seized carcinogenic products and spoiled fodder mixed with agricultural products and subsidized flour. Prohibited products in the preparation of animal feed. It recalls that the accused is the owner of several mills but also the main supplier of subsidized flour and fodder on the market. He is moreover prosecuted in a state of arrest for the use of prohibited chemicals in flour and fodder.

According to the association, the defendant is also involved in a case of embezzlement. Irregularities have been noted in the management of the agricultural cooperative of Oued Zem of which he was in charge. AMAP then calls for the opening of an investigation into the suspicions of money laundering. It also calls for a protective seizure of the assets of the accused and the persons involved in this case. Not to mention calling for a compensation mechanism for the victims.
