Moroccan Authorities Thwart Mass Migration Attempt into Spanish Enclave of Ceuta

The Moroccan authorities prevented, very early this Saturday morning, a massive influx of migrants into Ceuta, following a rumor of border opening circulated by a video posted on social media.
According to the local newspaper El Faro de Ceuta, this massive arrival is also due to an alleged decrease in vigilance on the part of the two countries, especially for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
To prevent this assault, the Moroccan authorities have reinforced the security presence on site with police officers and auxiliary force elements called in as reinforcements in Fnideq.
This rumor comes, according to the same source, from a Moroccan journalist who broadcast a live video on Facebook showing that there were many young Moroccans in Fnideq approaching the border post with the intention of crossing into Ceuta, while recalling the strong police presence on site forcing the young people to go home and preventing them from approaching the border.
It should be noted that several articles had been published in the Spanish press in recent days reporting a relaxation of Moroccan surveillance of the border post in order to allow migrants to storm the city of Ceuta as had been the case last May.
