Moroccan Authorities Seize Nearly 2 Tons of Cannabis in Roadside Ambush

On Wednesday morning, on the road connecting Tetouan and Chefchaouen, an ambush by a customs brigade and reinforcements from the gendarmerie led to the seizure of 1,925 kg of hashish, worth about 19.25 million dirhams.
At the level of the Al-Hamza Commune, on the road connecting Tetouan to Chefchaouen, a brigade from the Inter-Provincial Directorate of Tetouan of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII) was able to intercept a utility vehicle transporting about 2 tons of cannabis resin worth 19.25 million dirhams.
The drugs had been arranged in 53 packages and the vehicle transporting them bore falsified license plates. The customs brigade was able to count on the support of elements of a gendarmerie brigade.
An investigation has been opened by the justice system to determine the exact origin of this drug and the sponsors of this operation.
