Moroccan Authorities Seize Counterfeit Veterinary Drugs Ahead of Eid al-Adha

300 control operations of weekly markets were carried out by the central and regional services of the National Office of Sanitary Safety and Food Products (ONSSA). More than 500 unusable samples of veterinary medicines were seized, including antibiotics, antifungals and anti-inflammatories.
As part of the fight against counterfeit veterinary medicines and fake medicines, ONSSA has sent an alert to border control services to prevent their introduction. This campaign, launched in parallel with the preparations for Eid al-Adha, allows the protection of the consumer against any form of animal contamination.
The ONSSA services, with the help of a commission of veterinarians, inspected about thirty veterinary clinics to better understand the distribution circuit of the medicines.
The Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch, had held a meeting with the various professional commissions as part of the preparations for Eid al-Adha. Among the actions undertaken, the census of breeders and fatteners, the numbering of sheep and goats, the control of watering areas, medicines and animal feed.
