Moroccan Authorities Plan Demolition of Iconic Fishing Village in National Park

The fishing village of Tifnit, located in the Souss-Massa National Park, could simply disappear. This is what the authorities have decided.
In a report, the Al3omk site revealed that the 200 dwellings in the village, built on the public maritime domain, must be demolished in the coming weeks. This place, renowned for its wild beauty, hides a less flattering reality, made up of dilapidated buildings and illegal occupations.
Local sources contacted by Médias24 paint a worrying picture: crumbling dwellings, squatters, and dubious transactions are exacerbating the state of the village. On December 6, 2023, the residents received a letter asking them to restore the premises in accordance with the law. The objective is to restore this village to its original state.
It will now be up to the authorities to find a solution for the inhabitants, some of whom have been born there for more than 40 years.
