Moroccan Authorities Destroy 14 Tons of Cannabis and Contraband Worth $15 Million in Dakhla

Significant quantities of drugs, including 14.53 tons of chira (cannabis resin), and illicit and contraband products, estimated at 154 million dirhams (MDH), were incinerated on Saturday in Dakhla.
According to the southern inter-regional customs department, in addition to the large quantity of chira, 6.339 tons of flavored tobacco (maassel), 144,941 packs of cigarettes, 150 kg of cannabis (Kif), 28 kg of tobacco leaves and 220 grams of tobacco powder were also incinerated at the Dakhla-Al Argoub controlled landfill (Oued Eddahab province).
The destruction operation, which is part of the fight against international drug trafficking and smuggling, took place in the presence of local authorities and under the supervision of the representative of the public prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Oued Eddahab.
The Customs Officer in Dakhla, Abdouh, and the Deputy Prosecutor of the King near the Court of First Instance of Oued Eddahab, Charaf Saadi, took the opportunity to commend the effectiveness of the security services (customs, royal gendarmerie and national security) in this fight.
It should be noted that last Wednesday, an amount of drugs and contraband products estimated at 190 million dirhams was incinerated.
