Moroccan Authorities Demolish Unauthorized Buildings on Communal Lands

The local authorities of the Aït Amira district, in the province of Chtouka Aït Baha, have proceeded to demolish dozens of buildings built on the lands of the soulaliyate community, in several villages in the region.
This operation, which is part of the efforts to combat the proliferation of anarchic constructions in the province, particularly on collective lands and the public domain of the State, aims to protect this type of land against illegal appropriation by third parties.
The initial state has been restored in the areas occupied by individuals who have erected these buildings in an anarchic manner and in violation of urban planning laws and the texts governing collective lands. Investigations are continuing to apply legal sanctions against the offenders, intermediaries and accomplices involved.
Similar operations have already been carried out in several municipalities in the province, accompanied by legal proceedings against speculators and agents involved in clandestine subdivisions, including influential individuals and municipal presidents. In addition, several auxiliary authorities and elected officials involved in encouraging or tolerating anarchic constructions have also been sanctioned.
