Moroccan Authorities Demolish Coastal Homes in Chefchaouen Province

The authorities of the commune of Bni Bouzra, in the province of Chefchaouen, launched on Saturday a vast campaign to demolish houses and villas built on the maritime domain in certain coastal villages of the commune.
In collaboration with the commune of Bouhmad, the authorities of Bni Bouzra began to demolish houses and villas erected along the coasts in the village of Arkoub. In the lot, some have been recently built while others are nearly 40 years old, local sources say.
The authorities launched the demolition operation after summoning the residents and owners of these buildings to vacate the premises within 3 days, the same sources add, noting that the latter, as well as the inhabitants of the village, did not fail to express their discontent following the execution of this decision.
The operation is expected to continue and extend in the coming days to other coastal villages such as Chmaâla, Stehat and Jnan Niche, where luxury villas built on the public domain will also be razed.
