Moroccan Authorities Bust Migrant Smuggling Ring, Seize Jet Skis and Boats Near Marrakech

The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie dismantled a network of migrant smugglers and seized, at the same time, jet-skis and zodiacs stored in a building under construction in Tamansourt, near Marrakech.
The head of the migrant smuggling network, his wife and three other people were arrested during the intervention of the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. Similarly, 32 jet-skis and 5 zodiacs stored in a building under construction in Tamansourt, near Marrakech, were seized.
The accused are heavily involved in the activities of this network. Any candidate for immigration paid an amount of money ranging from 15,000 to 35,000 DH to the network. While some were lucky enough to cross the Mediterranean via the Safi coast, others never managed to reach Europe. They were simply victims of fraud by the main accused and his wife.
In Safi, illegal immigration operations are legion, and dozens of young people manage to reach Europe with the help of smugglers.
