Moroccan ’Audi Gang’ Member Faces Trial in Germany for ATM Theft

Slimane I., a member of a Moroccan mafia specialized in the vandalism of bank ATMs, appeared last week before the Hagen court in Germany. The individual faces up to 15 years in prison.
Last April, the 35-year-old man, accompanied by two accomplices, had managed to steal the sum of 371,000 euros, after having vandalized an ATM in Hagen Boulay. The police had later managed to recover the amount in his car.
During his hearing, the defendant, who refused to disclose the names of his accomplices out of fear of retaliation, undertook before the court to abandon any illegal activity, in exchange for a dismissal.
The Moroccan mafia, called "Audi", has around 250 Dutch criminals, mostly of Moroccan origin. Operating in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, its members particularly target bank ATMs that they vandalize with explosives.
