Moroccan Artist Karim Attar, 44, Killed in Highway Accident Near Meknes

Moroccan painter Karim Attar, aged 44, died on Friday, May 7, as a result of a road accident that occurred on the Meknes highway.

The visual arts professionals are in mourning. Their colleague, Karim Attar, was the victim of a road accident that cost him his life as well as one of his nieces. The tragic news was made public by his brother on social media. He specified that two other passengers of the wrecked vehicle, his sister and another niece, would have been transferred in critical condition to the hospital.

Karim Attar, born in 1977 in Meknes, was a talented artist who stood out for the originality of his works. He painted, on paper produced by himself from recycled cardboard, a rather particular universe, populated by tortured creatures, half-human, half-animal. "Paper is also a raw support that goes well with my tortured creatures, but which are dancing at the same time, I wish to have added value for Moroccan art," he said in an interview.

Morocco loses one of its great talents who has marked the field of visual arts in Morocco with his particular touch.
