Moroccan Army Intercepts Polisario Drug Smugglers in Sahara Border Clash

Shots were fired by FAR elements on a Polisario convoy. Members of the separatist movement were about to smuggle a large quantity of drugs on board a 4x4 vehicle.
After a long chase, the FAR elements managed to apprehend the traffickers near the border area in the south of Morocco, where the land and maritime units are strengthening their presence in order to put an end to these drug trafficking operations.
According to the daily Al Massae, a patrol of the Moroccan army managed to intercept a 4x4 vehicle transporting more than 1,800 kilos of cannabis, near the security belt in the military zone of Dakhla.
These drug trafficking networks are, according to a preliminary investigation, led by Polisario members, in order to replenish the "empty" coffers of the front, the same source advances.
The newspaper adds that several Polisario separatists, active within international arms and drug trafficking networks, are involved in smuggling activities at the Mauritanian border and in southern Algeria. Air control operations are therefore carried out by the Moroccan army, in order to monitor any possible incursions by armed Polisario members into the kingdom.
