Moroccan Architect Leads in NYC Future Housing Design Contest

Meriem Sakrouhi, a young Moroccan woman from Al Hoceima, distinguished herself in a competition for the design of houses of the future, organized in New York by the American Institute of Architects.
According to the Akhbarona website, the young woman, who resides in New York, managed to temporarily win first place with 14,000 votes. She chose to involve several specialists from around the world in her project, in order to have a global approach to the characteristics of the ideal building of the future.
In an address to the members of the American Institute, she declared: "The world around us has changed radically over the past fifty years. Only the buildings have remained intact."
The competition of the American Institute, which awards a large financial reward to the winner, is one of the major international competitions in the field of energy, climate change and lifestyles, technological advances and urban prototypes.
