Moroccan and British Paratroopers Conduct Joint Desert Exercise Near Marrakech

A joint exercise called Jebel Sahara is taking place near Marrakech with the participation of the 2nd Parachute Infantry Brigade of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the 2nd Battalion of the British Parachute Regiment, based in Colchester.
Jebel Sahara helps develop shared skills and relationships between the two armies to improve their ability to operate together. On the menu: a simulation game of a six-day war with British and Moroccan troops fighting side by side to seize an airstrip to use as a base to launch strikes.
This exercise is an "opportunity" for British troops "to learn from the experience of Moroccan troops operating in the hot, dry and demanding conditions of the desert," says the British Army website, relayed by the Far-Maroc forum. For their part, Moroccan soldiers will appropriate the skills of their British counterparts in patrolling, on foot and in vehicles, in marksmanship, in demolition and in first aid.
