Moroccan and British Navies Conduct Joint Diving Exercises in Gibraltar

Since January 20, the Royal Navy has been conducting exercises with its Moroccan counterpart in Gibraltar. These maneuvers are part of the Augmentra project and aim to strengthen diving operations.
In collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Navy, the ships of the Gibraltar Squadron have carried out a series of exercises with the divers of the Gibraltar Clearance Diving Element (CDE), reports thedefensepost, recalling that these maneuvers follow the joint operation carried out at the end of 2024, during which the HMS Dagger ship escorted the diving support vessel Crabb through the Strait of Gibraltar.
The exercise consisted of a simulation of a diving accident. Equipped with their support devices, six divers went near the Gibraltar airport runway aboard the HMS Cutlass where they carried out a series of scenarios. The exercise aimed to test the ship’s ability to recover an injured diver in various emergency situations.
"As a very high-readiness squadron, we have now added a new skill to our portfolio. The synergy with well-established units offers us an enhanced capability that can positively contribute to our existing maritime security operations," said Lieutenant-Commander Jonathan Davies, a trained diver and commander of the HMS Dagger.
