Moroccan-American Novelist Laila Lalami Named Emeritus Professor at UC Riverside

Moroccan novelist Laila Lalami has been promoted to emeritus professor at the University of California at Riverside, where she teaches creative writing.
Laila Lalami has been appointed emeritus professor at the University of California at Riverside for her contribution to teaching, development and the influence of this place of learning, reports Britlle Paper. This title is reserved for "faculty above scale who have achieved the highest levels of scholarship over the course of their careers."
The Moroccan-American shared the news with her followers on Instagram. "Delighted to share that I have been promoted to emeritus professor, a rank that the University of California on its campuses bestows on professors" who have reached the highest levels of scholarship "and have earned" national degrees, distinctions and international honors. Fans and friends including Maaza Mengiste, Tea Obreht and Leila Aboulela sent her messages to congratulate her.
Laila Lalami, 58, is a novelist known on the American literary scene. She is the author of Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits, Secret Son, The Moor’s Account, etc.
