Moroccan Ambassador’s Traditional Attire Sparks Social Media Frenzy in Russia

The new Moroccan ambassador to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara, was the target of ridicule from Internet users because of the traditional dress (djellaba) he wore when presenting his credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, February 5.
The traditional dress worn by the new ambassador during the presentation of his credentials is not well appreciated in Russia. The video of the meeting has gone viral on social networks, especially Twitter.
Russian Internet users, who are apparently not familiar with this traditional dress, could not help but mock the Moroccan diplomat. For them, the djellaba is a "protective suit against the coronavirus", or even the "outfit of a Harry Potter character".
