Moroccan ’Alcohol Baron’ Sentenced to 8 Years for Illegal Beverage Sales

The Court of First Instance of Casablanca has severely punished the alcohol baron, Said Boukannouf and his accomplices.
The defendant was sentenced on Tuesday, January 12, to 8 years in prison with a fine of 40,000 DH for the sale of alcoholic beverages and the possession and sale of expired products.
His accomplices, Ahmed Tedjani and Nawfal El Kasbi, were each sentenced to 7 years in prison. The other two, Hicham Ben Hima and Rachid Ben Kalthoum, were each sentenced to four years in prison. These various sentences are accompanied by fines ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 DH.
Said Boukannouf is known to the police. He had been arrested as part of the "Operation Bacchus". A large quantity of adulterated alcohol had been discovered in his warehouses.
