Moroccan Airport Arrest: German Resident Linked to Major ’Poor Man’s Drug’ Trafficking Case

A man was arrested on Tuesday upon his arrival at Al Aroui airport in Nador from Germany, for his alleged involvement in a case of karkoubi trafficking, the "drug of the poor" that is wreaking havoc in Europe.
The suspect would be one of the main suspects in a case of karkoubi trafficking, a large quantity (more than 100,000 tablets) of which, hidden in a Volkswagen Touran car with German registration, had been seized on February 16, 2023.
According to sources close to the case, the defendant is the owner of the car that transported the drugs. He and seven other people were the subject of a search warrant for their alleged involvement in this case for which his brother is also being prosecuted. The latter, the driver of the vehicle, as well as a septuagenarian from Midar, had been arrested.
After his arrest at Al Aroui airport in Nador, the suspect was handed over to the judicial police of the city. The competent prosecutor’s office ordered his detention, pending his trial.
