Moroccan Agricultural Group Defends Quality of Local Wheat and Bread

The Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER) spoke out on Wednesday on the statements that claim the poor quality of Moroccan wheat and bread consumed in the Kingdom.
Countering those who denounce the quality of Moroccan wheat and bread, the confederation said it was surprised by these "irresponsible and fallacious and slanderous statements." According to COMADER, which expresses "its total solidarity and unconditional support for the wheat-producing farmers," the information launched in public opinion "calls into question without any basis the efforts made by these Moroccan producers fully engaged in the regular supply, in sufficient quantity and quality, of the local market with various agricultural products, despite the restrictions imposed by the government due to Covid-19."
"Judgments of this nature insult the intelligence of the Moroccan consumer, the best placed actor to properly appreciate the quality of the flour he uses or the bread he acquires from both modern and artisanal bakeries," stressed the confederation, stressing that Morocco is known, both nationally and internationally, for the richness of its ancestral culinary art, of which bread is one of the main pillars.
"These statements disregard the work done by the many control commissions and in particular that of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) on the one hand, as well as all the achievements of the cereal sector within the framework of the Green Morocco Plan (PMV)," the professional organization also deplores.
Determined, COMADER said it is ready to accompany the necessary steps of all professional organizations to obtain compensation for the damage that farmers could suffer due to the actions of "certain ill-intentioned parties."
