Moroccan Agri-Food and MedTech Startups Vie for Forbes Impact Award in MENA Region

Two Moroccan startups are among the nominees for the Viram Foundation and Forbes award, for the most impactful startup in the Middle East and North Africa region.
These are the Moroccan agri-food startup BMTA&C and the medical technology startup Deepecho, engaged in this competition, dedicated to new companies that offer creative solutions to imminent social and environmental challenges.
This year, the organizers have saluted the innovations carried by Sara Benlafqih, co-founder and CEO of the startup BMTA&C and Youssef Bouyakhf, CEO of the startup Depecho, ranking them among the 14 candidates for the Forbes prize.
Operating in the agri-food sector, BMTA&C has invented a storage unit to help farmers extend the shelf life of their crops from two days to 20 days, allowing them to recover up to a third of their harvest.
Founded in 2020, Deepecho offers a next-generation ultrasound technology that could be vital. Bouyakhf’s startup aims to fight infant mortality through cutting-edge technology. By collaborating with a team of experts, Deepecho has developed a deep learning software that provides an accurate diagnosis of fetal development.
The winner will receive the title of the most impactful startup and a cash prize of $500,000. The startups finishing second and third will also receive a prize of $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
