Moroccan Actress Wins Top Honor at Durban Film Festival for ’Adam’ Role

Moroccan actress Nisrin Erradi was awarded the Best Actress Prize for her role in Maryam Touzani’s film "Adam". The award ceremony took place at the 40th Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.
Headlining the Moroccan director’s first feature film, Nisrin Erradi played the role of a single pregnant young mother, Samia, who leaves the countryside for Casablanca to have her son adopted.
"Adam" is "the story of a somewhat chance encounter between two women in the Casablanca medina. The kind of unexpected encounters that fate knows how to orchestrate and that can change the course of a life," says the young actress.
Sharing the lead role with Lubna Azabal, Abla, the young widow who welcomes Samia, the two will experience the taste of life through an inner journey that will lead them to each other.
Accomplices in Touzani’s film as in real life, the two actresses had caused controversy by kissing on the mouth in front of the camera at the Cannes Film Festival. A gesture that earned them a strong reaction from Internet users.
