Moroccan Actress Sentenced to Prison, Deportation in UAE Court Ruling

The Criminal Court of Dubai has handed down its final verdict, sentencing Moroccan actress, Mariam Hussein, to a prison sentence and expulsion from Emirati territory.
This irrevocable decision of the Court, which confirms the first instance judgment, while reducing the prison sentence from 3 to 1 month, has made it possible to exonerate the journalist Salah el Gasmi from the charges brought against him.
At first instance, the Moroccan actress and the Emirati journalist had been sentenced to pay a joint fine of 100,000 Emirati dirhams, in addition to 50,000 dirhams to be paid by Mariam Hussein to Ouafaa El Khalidi.
Prosecuted in July 2019 for her alleged involvement in sexual relations with a rapper during the New Year’s celebrations, the actress had been sentenced to 3 months in prison and expulsion from the country.
