Moroccan Activists Push for Justice Reform Amid Death Penalty Debate

The murder of little Adnane in Tangier has reignited the debate on the death penalty. In the tumult of the war of positions, the Moroccan Alliance for the Abolition of the Death Penalty rejects capital punishment.
In a statement relayed by Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the Alliance opens the debate. The Muslim rule is that such crimes should be punished by the death penalty. But is this the solution to this admittedly abominable act, which is not an exception in society? asks the Alliance, which has received the support of many parliamentarians and lawyers.
The alliance wants a justice without hatred, which should not fall into the easy solution of the death penalty. The harm is done, and death can never be an answer to death, it concludes.
