Moroccan Activists Plan Protest March to Mark 10 Years of February 20 Movement

A march could take place on Saturday in Rabat, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the February 20 Movement. Several calls have been launched on social networks by activist organizations.
The call, according to the site Alyaoum24, would have found a favorable echo with about ten human rights organizations in Morocco, grouped under the aegis of the "Moroccan Social Front". The slogan "10 years of struggle against oppression, tyranny, and the repression of freedoms" was quickly relayed by the various bodies.
The FSM announced that the demonstration, which awaits the agreement of the authorities, will be an opportunity to "brandish slogans where we call for the release of political detainees and prisoners of conscience and the abandonment of legal proceedings".
"Power to the people" or "social justice" are among the main demands of this protest movement, which denounces social inequalities and the government’s inability to bring about profound changes.
For their part, the authorities defend themselves, stating that the bulk of the demands would have been met with the adoption of the 2011 Constitution, implemented on the initiative of King Mohammed VI.
