The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) reacted to the allegations relayed on Friday, March 5, 2021 on social networks, claiming that Maati Monjib, imprisoned at the local prison El Arjat 2, would have started a hunger strike on Thursday.

In a clarification relayed by La Map, the DGAPR stated that it has never been notified by the detainee about this decision. It also specifies that the person concerned took this Friday the two meals that were served to him, namely breakfast and lunch.

Prosecuted for undermining state security, money laundering and fraud, the historian and human rights defender, Maâti Monjib, was sentenced on Thursday, January 28, to 12 months in prison and a fine of 10,000 DH.
