Moroccan Activist Jailed for Facebook Post Calling for Prime Minister’s Death

Back to square one for the former founder of the February 20 movement Oussama El Khlifi, who has just been sentenced to a prison term for calls for murder broadcast on Facebook.
The Court of First Instance in Salé sentenced the young man to a three-month prison sentence and a fine of 5,000 dirhams for "public incitement to murder." He had described the PJD leaders as "terrorists" before continuing on Facebook: "I wish that all members of the PJD die, and that their heads be hung on Mohammed V Avenue in Rabat."
Oussama El Khlifi is no stranger to the courts. He had been convicted a few years ago for "rape of a minor" and incarcerated in the El Arjat prison in Salé, which he has now returned to for three months.
