Moroccan Activist Attempts to Pay 10,000 Dirham Fine in Coins After Accusing Official of Misuse

An activist in Agadir, accused of having harmed the President of the Municipal Council of the city, was determined to pay the fine imposed on him, in small 0.50 dirham and 1 dirham coins.
Réda Taoujni had accused, last May, the PJD deputy of misappropriation of public funds and abusive use of the municipal budget for personal purposes, in particular to make trips abroad.
The man, who presented himself at the president’s office with a bucket full of 50-cent and 1-dirham coins, was denied access, reports the site Al Oumk, without being discouraged.
"The president had told me that the fine concerned him personally, and its payment should be made at his home. I arrived accompanied by a bailiff to be able to pay it," he told the media.
