Moroccan Activist Arrested for Fraud Scheme Exploiting Royal Palace Connections

An activist in Nador, suspected of having defrauded several people, was arrested by the judicial police. As a method to lure her victims, she made them believe that she had "high-level connections" within the royal palace.
According to the Arabic-language daily Assabah, the accused would have made her victims, mainly from the city of Al Hoceima, believe in the possibility of enjoying official cars in exchange for the payment of large sums of money. But once the money was received, she disappears without a trace.
This is how they were forced to seize the law enforcement authorities to report the fraud. The alleged victims, according to the police, have presented "incriminating evidence". These are mainly WhatsApp audio recordings that attest to the payment of sums of money, and in which she claims to be in the "process of registering the vehicles in Rabat".
The public prosecutor’s office decided to provisionally incarcerate the accused in the local prison of Nador, and the judge set the first hearing of the trial for this Monday, February 10, while the number of her victims continues to increase. The accused, through her associative activity, has expanded her fraud network in several cities, such as Oujda or Driouch, by forging relationships with local administrative officials.
She is the head of an association dedicated to the defense of women’s rights and more specifically single mothers, and in this capacity, she had entered into agreements with several ministerial departments within the framework of this activity, including the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Family and Solidarity, and would have benefited from a subsidy of up to 300,000 DH.
According to the newspaper, the first elements of the investigation also showed that she would have exploited the precarious situation of the single women her association deals with. Her method of pressure to have them at her mercy is that she has "at hand" the majority of the divorce pension files pending before the courts of the city of Nador.
